A manufacturer of field sprayer trailers for the agricultural sector installs pinch valves from AKO Armaturen in its factory. The valves from the VF series control the transport of the fertiliser from the tank to the nozzles on the field sprayer.
The DN 50 and DN 80 pinch valves fitted with flange connections and a sleeve made out of abrasion and deformation-resistant natural rubber have replaced the previously used manual knife gate valves and ball valves in the production of the field sprayers. Farmers who have used the field sprayers fitted with AKO pinch valves report that they are much more reliable, easier to use and quicker and easier to maintain than the previous types of valves.
The installed pinch valves are open in their normal setting and it is only when the tank on the field sprayer is being filled with fertiliser that compressed air is used to close the pinch valves and open them again out on the field. The fertiliser is then transported to the nozzles and sprayed onto the field.
If the sleeve inside the valve needs to be replaced due to wear, the entire valve can be easily unscrewed or released from the flange connection on the pipeline, dismantled and then installed again after replacing the sleeve. This avoids any downtimes due to extensive maintenance work. The other valve components can be used again and reinstalled with the new sleeve. It is not necessary to replace the complete valve and this saves costs as a result.
