Rubber Sleeve Knife Gate Valve Type D

Rubber Sleeve Knife Gate Valve, handwheel actuated

The type D rubber sleeve Knife Gate Valve  is a bi-directional wafer valve for general industrial applications.

The nominal widths available range from DN050 to DN900 with flange connections complying with EN 1092-2 PN10 or alternatively, ANSI B16.5.

Back to Knife Gate Valves Overview.

Applications of Knife Gate Valve type D:

Due to the density of its sleeves, which allows for complete tightness in both directions of flow, it is particularly suitable for use with abrasive slurries.

The type D valve is predominantly used in the mining and chemical industries, and in waste water engineering and power station technology.

Actuators for Rubber Sleeve Knife Gate Valve type D

Manually actuated handwheel models with rising stem or a double-acting pneumatic cylinder are offered as actuation.

The structure of the unidirectional rubber sleeve Knife Gate Valves encompasses a so-called wafer style cast monoblock body, with reinforced ribs for larger nominal diameters for extra body strength.

The body's design guarantees that the slide plate can be constantly controlled.

The monoblock body is available in either grey cast iron (GG25) or alternatively in stainless steel AISI 1.4408 (CF8M).

The slide plate is manufactured using stainless steel AISI 304 or AISI 316 as standard.

The plate radius of the slide gate has a bevelled cutting edge. This increases the sleeves' service life.

The slide plate's seat in the monoblock body is sealed tight by the elastomer sleeves, which are made of natural, abrasion resistant rubber.

The elastomer sleeves come into direct contact with one another when the rubber sleeve Knife Gate Valve is in the open position. This prevents deposits building up in the monoblock body.

It is very easy to exchange the rubber elastomer sleeves and can be carried out by the customer on site. The elastomer sleeves simultaneously act as flange seals.

The gland packing consists of several layers of braided fibre.

An EPDM o-ring is integrated into the layers gland packing as standard.

In addition to greased cotton, a PTFE-coated synthetic fibre, braided PTFE, graphite, ceramic fibre or Dynapack can be used for the braided fibre.
